Participants explored the critical role of youth and youth workers in advocating for negotiations, peacebuilding, and mediation within local communities. They examined how young people bring innovative perspectives and energy to conflict resolution, engaging diverse stakeholders and fostering inclusive dialogue to prevent escalation.
Throughout the workshop, participants acquired essential tools and competencies including active listening, conflict analysis, emotional intelligence, nonviolent communication, mediation techniques, and cultural sensitivity. Practical role-playing exercises enabled them to apply these skills in realistic scenarios, preparing them to facilitate community discussions and workshops aimed at promoting peaceful conflict resolution.
The workshop emphasized the importance of non-formal education as a flexible and experiential approach to equipping individuals with mediation and peacebuilding skills. Participants recognized its value in reaching marginalized groups and empowering youth to become proactive agents of change, thereby contributing to more stable, just, and cooperative societies.
