Mirror Me: Digital Peace Dialogues at Sofia University

Content

As part of the dissemination for the training course “Fostering Peace Through IT Solutions” held in Yerevan, Mladezhda organized a public youth-focused event at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. The session was led by Desislava Dimitrova, who represented the Bulgarian team during the training. The event blended reflective storytelling with tech-forward thinking on digital peacebuilding.

Workshop Goals

  • Promote digital empathy and critical thinking in online spaces.

  • Share project ideas and non-formal learning tools with local youth workers and students.

Key Activities
Desislava presented the concept of “Mirror Me: Digital Twin Diaries for Empathy”, a digital storytelling platform developed during the Yerevan training. The idea sparked meaningful dialogue about the role of digital platforms in building cross-cultural understanding. Participants also discussed key training topics, such as hate speech, cyberbullying, and cancel culture, and exchanged methods to approach them with youth.

Attendees explored chatbot templates for online mediation and brainstormed ways to translate conflict experiences into visual narratives.

Participant Reflections

“I want to build tools that help people pause before they post in anger.”
“This idea of a digital twin for empathy is something we could use in schools and youth centers.”

Outputs and Legacy
The “Mirror Me” project received strong interest from educators and NGO representatives present at the session. Mladezhda plans to develop it further in partnership with local organizations. A youth-led digital Peace Toolkit is also in progress, featuring exercises shared during the session.
