In Esch-sur-Alzette, Formation et Sensibilisation de Luxembourg ran the educational event “Building the Future with Lessons from the Past.” The activity brought together youth workers to explore the dark moments of Europe’s post-war dictatorships and turn them into meaningful learning tools.
Using non-formal education, participants explored themes like censorship, resistance, freedom of speech, and democratic institutions. They reflected on today’s challenges—such as hate speech and disinformation—and worked on strategies to guide young people through them.
The project ended with strong new connections and a shared goal: to help young generations learn from the past to protect democracy now and in the future.
