A critical and practical course for youth workers took place, focusing on understanding blockchain, Web3, and digital assets, including NFTs, without the surrounding hype. Participants explored the capabilities and limitations of these technologies, ethical concerns such as scams and environmental impact, and practical youth-sector applications like digital identity concepts and community tokens. The emphasis was on financial and digital literacy, aiming to protect young people from fraud while fostering informed citizenship.
The course successfully developed foundational knowledge of blockchain and Web3 terminology, enhanced participants' ability to educate youth on risks like scams and misinformation, and encouraged exploration of responsible Web3 scenarios. By the end, participants could explain blockchain simply, identify common scams, and conduct safe educational sessions. They also produced a youth-friendly workshop plan on Web3 literacy, complete with a workshop pack, risk checklist, and glossary tailored for youth workers.
