Coding for Change: Engaging Youth Through Digital Innovation in Bucharest

Content
On June 6th, 2025, the Romanian team from Se Poate Association organized a two-hour dissemination workshop at the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Robotics, within the Polytechnical University of Bucharest. Sixteen young participants—including university students and tech-interested youth—attended the event, which was designed to share lessons from the Erasmus+ training "Code for Change: Empowering Young Changemakers through Programming" held in Benalmádena, Spain.

Workshop Goals

  • Transfer knowledge gained from the international project to local peers.

  • Show how programming can support problem-solving, innovation, and youth empowerment.

Key Activities

Participants explored simple coding tools and discussed real-world applications of tech in addressing community challenges. The Se Poate team presented examples of how youth can use digital tools to create awareness, organize campaigns, and develop local tech initiatives.

Participant Reflections

“It’s inspiring to see how coding isn’t just for developers—it’s something we can use to speak up and take action.”

Outputs and Legacy

The event planted seeds for new student-led initiatives in Bucharest, with several attendees expressing interest in creating coding clubs focused on environmental, health, and social impact topics.
