On December 11, 2024, Copernicus Berlin e.V. organized a follow-up workshop in Berlin, Germany, inspired by the Erasmus+ training course Empowering Youth Workers for Gender Equality and Mental Health Awareness, held in Benalmádena, Spain. The event brought together youth workers, volunteers, and students eager to explore how equality and emotional well-being can strengthen social cohesion and youth participation.
The session opened with an overview of the Erasmus+ programme and its opportunities for personal and professional development in the field of youth work. Facilitators from Copernicus Berlin shared key takeaways from the international training, focusing on how gender awareness, mental health support, and inclusive communication can help create safer and more understanding environments for young people.
Participants took part in interactive exercises, group reflections, and role-playing activities designed to challenge gender stereotypes, reduce stigma around mental health, and promote empathy. The discussions emphasized how mental well-being and equality are interconnected — both essential for building inclusive communities where young people feel heard, supported, and empowered.
The event concluded with an open dialogue in which participants shared their insights and pledged to continue raising awareness about mental health and equality in their own networks. Many also expressed an interest in taking part in future Erasmus+ initiatives to further develop their skills and contribute to positive social change.
The Berlin workshop perfectly reflected the essence of the Erasmus+ Empowering Youth Workers for Gender Equality and Mental Health Awareness project — demonstrating that empathy, understanding, and equal opportunities are the foundations of a healthier, fairer society.
