“Mind and Equality Matters” Workshop Inspires Youth to Champion Gender Equality and Mental Health

  On December 15, 2024, Bridge to Unity Romania organized a dissemination workshop in Craiova, following the Erasmus+ training course Empowering Youth Workers for Gender Equality and Mental Health Awareness, held in November in Benalmádena, Spain. The event gathered young participants from the Asociația Studenților Basarabeni din Craiova, aiming to spread the key messages and lessons learned from the international project. The session introduced participants to the Erasmus+ programme and the opportunities it offers for youth mobility, personal growth, and social engagement. Facilitators also presented the work of Copernicus Berlin, highlighting its role in empowering young people through inclusive, transformative initiatives. The workshop explored two main themes: Gender Equality and Mental Health Awareness. Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, participants examined the roots of gender inequality, reflected on societal stereotypes, and discussed how to foster equality in their communities. They also learned about the importance of mental well-being, exploring strategies to create safe and supportive spaces for youth, and addressing the stigma that often surrounds mental health topics. Using non-formal education methods such as group reflections, role-playing, and creative workshops, the event encouraged open dialogue and collaboration. Participants shared their experiences, challenges, and ideas for promoting inclusion and well-being in their environments. The Craiova workshop successfully captured the spirit of the Erasmus+ Empowering Youth Workers for Gender Equality and Mental Health Awareness project — proving that by combining empathy, education, and community engagement, young people can drive meaningful change and build a more equal and mentally healthy society.
