On December 14, 2024, the International Connection Association organized a follow-up workshop in Varna, Bulgaria, inspired by the Erasmus+ training course Empowering Youth Workers for Gender Equality and Mental Health Awareness, held in November in Benalmádena, Spain. The event aimed to empower young people and community workers to understand the link between gender equality, emotional well-being, and social inclusion.
The workshop brought together 14 participants, including youth workers, educators, and university students, who took part in a series of interactive discussions and practical exercises. Facilitators from International Connection presented insights gained during the Erasmus+ training, emphasizing how mental health and gender balance are key components of a fair and inclusive society.
Participants explored topics such as breaking gender stereotypes, developing empathy, and creating safe spaces for open dialogue on emotional well-being. Activities included role-plays, storytelling sessions, and group reflection exercises that helped participants identify everyday barriers to equality and mental health support.
The session also highlighted the importance of collaboration between youth organizations and educational institutions in raising awareness on these issues. Participants shared ideas for future community initiatives focused on promoting mental resilience and gender inclusivity among young people.
The Varna workshop effectively continued the goals of the Erasmus+ Empowering Youth Workers for Gender Equality and Mental Health Awareness project — demonstrating that by combining open conversation, empathy, and teamwork, youth can build healthier, more equitable communities across Europe.
