On December 8, 2024, Asociación Go Green organized a follow-up workshop in Málaga, Spain, inspired by the Erasmus+ training course Empowering Youth Workers for LGBT Rights and Inclusion, held in November in Benalmádena. The session aimed to strengthen the capacities of local youth workers, volunteers, and students to advocate for equality and create more inclusive community spaces.
The workshop began with a presentation on the main objectives and outcomes of the Erasmus+ training, highlighting the importance of respect, empathy, and awareness in addressing the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth. Facilitators shared experiences from the international training and introduced participants to inclusive practices that can be applied in everyday youth work and education.
Participants engaged in interactive activities and real-life case studies, where they discussed discrimination, identity, and equality through non-formal education methods. They learned practical strategies for creating safe environments, supporting diverse groups, and integrating inclusion into community projects. The session also featured group brainstorming on how to build advocacy campaigns and social media initiatives promoting LGBTQ+ visibility.
The atmosphere throughout the event was open and collaborative, encouraging dialogue among participants from different backgrounds. By the end of the workshop, attendees expressed motivation to take part in future Erasmus+ activities and apply the skills learned to foster inclusive and supportive environments within their organizations.
The Málaga workshop effectively continued the mission of the Erasmus+ Empowering Youth Workers for LGBT Rights and Inclusion project — demonstrating that youth-led action, education, and empathy are essential tools in building a fairer and more inclusive Europe for all.
