On December 6, 2024, Copernicus Berlin e.V. hosted a follow-up workshop in Berlin, Germany, inspired by the Erasmus+ training course Empowering Youth Workers for LGBT Rights and Inclusion, held in November in Benalmádena, Spain. The event gathered youth workers, educators, and community activists to discuss how inclusive practices can strengthen equality and human rights within local youth programs.

The workshop began with a presentation on the main outcomes of the Erasmus+ training, emphasizing the need for youth workers to create safe spaces where every individual — regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation — feels valued and supported. Facilitators highlighted the importance of empathy, dialogue, and active listening in promoting inclusion.

Participants engaged in interactive discussions and real-life case studies, exploring strategies to address discrimination and foster respect within educational and community settings. Activities also included collaborative exercises on inclusive communication, allyship, and awareness-raising campaigns aimed at empowering young people to advocate for equality.

The event concluded with a reflection circle, where participants shared personal insights and committed to applying the tools learned in their work with youth organizations and schools. Many expressed a desire to develop future Erasmus+ initiatives focused on diversity, tolerance, and civic engagement.

The Berlin workshop effectively reinforced the mission of the Erasmus+ Empowering Youth Workers for LGBT Rights and Inclusion project — demonstrating that through education, empathy, and collaboration, youth workers can build safer, more inclusive communities for all.
