On December 4, 2024, the Creative Youth Academy (CYA) organized a follow-up workshop in Budapest, Hungary, inspired by the Erasmus+ training course Empowering Youth Workers for LGBT Rights and Inclusion, held in November in Benalmádena, Spain. The event brought together 12 young participants, students, and community advocates eager to promote inclusivity, equality, and awareness of LGBTQ+
rights within their local environments. Hosted at Budapest Business University, the session began with an introduction to the Erasmus+ programme and its focus on fostering human rights and social inclusion through youth work. Facilitators from CYA shared key lessons from the international training, emphasizing the importance of allyship, empathy, and active advocacy in creating safe and supportive spaces for all individuals.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions and group activities addressing topics such as discrimination, identity, and equality, exploring how young people can contribute to inclusive change through community projects and educational initiatives. The use of non-formal education techniques — including storytelling, role-play, and open dialogue — helped participants reflect on their personal attitudes and discover ways to foster understanding and acceptance in their communities.
The workshop concluded with participants developing concrete ideas for awareness campaigns and local initiatives to promote equality and inclusion. Many expressed motivation to organize similar events in their schools and workplaces, continuing the
dialogue on diversity and human rights.
The Budapest workshop successfully embodied the spirit of the Erasmus+ Empowering Youth Workers for LGBT Rights and Inclusion project — showing that when youth are empowered with knowledge, empathy, and creativity, they become catalysts for positive social change and equality.
