Coastal Ecosystems & World Politics: From Reefs to Negotiation Rooms
Training in Bora Bora, French Polynesia
November 22-29, 2025
Description: This intensive course bridges marine ecology with real-world policy and diplomacy. Participants explore how coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass meadows underpin coastal livelihoods—while also sitting at the center of high-stakes decisions on sovereignty, trade, climate finance, and security. Through crisp briefings, case studies, and a hands-on negotiation simulation, you’ll learn how scientific evidence moves (or stalls) through local, national, and global arenas—from marine protected areas and EIAs to UNCLOS, climate, and biodiversity regimes. By the end, you’ll be able to analyze stakeholders and power dynamics, weigh policy trade-offs with simple decision tools, and craft persuasive, ethics-aligned recommendations that balance conservation with development.
