Scholarship in Berlin, Germany

Project organized by Copernicus Berlin e.V.

Copernicus Berlin e.V. is hosting this event
The Professional in Residence (PiR) Scholarship is Copernicus Berlin’s premium alumni track tailored for former International Excellence Scholarship (IES) participants who are ready to take the next step from being a participant to becoming a community builder. Designed for individuals already familiar with the culture, values, and standards of Copernicus Berlin, PiR offers a structured framework for growth into leadership roles where you can mentor, support, and guide the next cohort of scholars.
As a PiR scholar, you don’t simply join a program — you actively shape the scholarship community. You will be entrusted with real responsibilities that influence the quality and success of the IES experience, including supporting onboarding, ensuring smooth integration, and strengthening a culture of respect, discipline, and collaboration among scholarship holders. This role allows your unique specialization — such as IT, media, design, training, project development, communications, research, or operations — to become a driver of tangible impact within the organization.
One of the key distinctions of the PiR Scholarship is its emphasis on outcomes that build your professional profile. Beyond mentorship and community support, your contributions result in visible deliverables, collaborative achievements, and leadership experience that can be showcased in a professional portfolio. PiR is conceived as a bridge between the IES scholarship experience and long-term involvement in international projects, civic innovation, and European cooperation networks.
The scholarship offers full funding that covers accommodation, liability insurance, cultural and educational activities, mentoring, workshops, administration, and a monthly pocket money stipend. Health insurance is also reimbursed, though travel costs are not covered. This comprehensive support structure enables PiR participants to contribute meaningfully to Copernicus Berlin’s mission while continuing their own personal and professional development.
