Grants Writer position

Organisation: Copernicus Berlin Network

Location: Remote, with possible cooperation across Berlin, Yerevan, Réunion Island, Chișinău, Sevilla and Naples

Description

The Grant Writer will work closely with the executive team to develop project ideas, check eligibility, prepare applications and strengthen the visibility and portfolio materials needed for successful grant submissions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Search for suitable grant calls, public funding programmes, private foundations, sponsorship opportunities and other relevant funding sources.
• Check eligibility criteria for Copernicus Berlin and its network organisations.
• Analyse funding guidelines, priorities, deadlines, required documents and application procedures.
• Prepare project concepts individually, in regular exchange with the executive team.
• Develop the correct project focus based on the funding call, organisational priorities and target groups.
• Write complete grant applications independently, including project descriptions, objectives, activities, expected results, impact, dissemination and sustainability sections.
• Keep track of deadlines and ensure timely preparation and submission of applications.
• Coordinate with the executive team for strategic alignment, quality control and final approval.
• Suggest visibility materials, portfolio assets, references, statistics, reports, websites, social media content or previous project examples that can strengthen applications.
• Support the improvement of Copernicus Berlin’s funding portfolio and application database.
• Maintain clear records of submitted applications, deadlines, feedback and results.

Requirements

• Proven experience in grant writing, project development or fundraising.
• Good understanding of EU funding, public grants, private foundations or international donor programmes.
• Ability to read and analyse funding guidelines carefully.
• Strong writing skills in English; German or other languages are an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Experience in youth work, education, non-formal learning, civil society, international cooperation, Erasmus+, inclusion, digitalisation, democracy, sustainability or migration-related projects is an advantage.
• Strong research, analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to turn project ideas into clear, structured and convincing applications.
• Reliability, confidentiality and professional communication.

For each grant application, the remuneration amount will be discussed and agreed individually in advance and processed for every successfully approved project.After five successful grants, Copernicus Berlin will offer the Grant Writer a permanent position, with the possibility to work in one of our network locations: Berlin (Germany), Yerevan (Armenia), Réunion Island (France), Chișinău (Moldova), Sevilla (Spain), Naples (Italy) or London (United Kingdom).The position offers the opportunity to work with an international civil society network, contribute to meaningful educational and social impact projects, and grow into a long-term role within the Copernicus Berlin structure.
