Coastal Unity: Sustainable Solutions in Europe and the Caribbean

Erasmus+ Training Course in Curaçao (Dutch Caribbean island), the Netherlands

January 11-18, 2024

From January 12 to January 19, 2024, the Erasmus+ training course “Coastal Unity: Sustainable Solutions in Europe and the Caribbean” took place in Curaçao. This event united youth workers from Europe and the Caribbean to confront shared environmental and socio-economic challenges faced by island and coastal communities. Participants explored the unique cultural, geographical, and historical contexts of both regions, focusing on inclusive and sustainable solutions to climate resilience, sea-level rise, marine pollution, and biodiversity loss.

Throughout the week, attendees examined sustainable economic growth models and community engagement strategies aimed at ensuring equitable development while fostering youth participation in decision-making processes. The training facilitated cross-cultural exchange and mutual learning, ultimately strengthening international cooperation for inclusive, climate-resilient futures.
