From NEET to Compete – A Holistic Approach to Youth Employability

From August 1 to August 10, 2023, Barcelos, Portugal hosted the Erasmus+ training course “From NEET to Compete – A Holistic Approach to Youth Employability.” This initiative addressed the pressing issue of youth not engaged in education, employment, or training (NEET), aiming to empower youth workers with vital knowledge and tools. Participants delved into the barriers faced by NEET youth and explored innovative strategies to enhance employability, self-confidence, and personal development through experiential learning, discussions, and sport-based activities.

The program focused on strengthening youth workers' capacities to support NEET youth by providing holistic approaches that fostered employability, social skills, and personal motivation. Participants gained a deeper understanding of the NEET phenomenon and developed competencies to enhance the employability skills of these young individuals. By incorporating psychological, social, educational, and practical support, the course promoted effective methods for empowering NEET youth while encouraging peer learning among diverse youth workers.
